Can I build an iPhone app with Claude Code if I have never coded?

Yes. I have shipped 9 iPhone apps, built mostly with Claude Code, and they are live on the App Store. You do not need to write Swift yourself, but you need a Mac with Xcode (free) and an Apple Developer Program membership to publish. Start with one small feature that uses real data, test it in the simulator, and ship that before adding anything else.

What I have actually shipped

I have 9 live iPhone apps: Motivational Widget, Potluck Coordinator, Local Facts, MathGate, Cambio, PillPair, JudgeIt, PickleLive and Threengs. My app pipeline has started more than 100 apps and shipped 9. That record is why I recommend choosing a small, testable first app.

What you need before you start

Claude Code is available in terminal, VS Code, JetBrains, the desktop app and web. It is included with Claude Pro and Max. Xcode is free on the Mac App Store and runs on a Mac. Publishing needs an Apple Developer Program membership. See the official plan and membership details in Sources.

The first week: one feature, one screen, a real data source

Write down one feature, name the framework it uses and where its data is saved, then have Claude build that narrow slice. Run it in the iPhone simulator and verify the screen and saved data before expanding the scope.

Where beginners get stuck

The hard part is keeping scope small and checking that a feature works with real data. My pipeline once instructed the AI to wait briefly and show a done screen. I removed that instruction in August 2026. Now every feature names what makes it real, and a simulator test pass is the bar to ship.

What it costs

Claude Code is included with Claude Pro and Max. Apple Developer Program membership is $99 a year, according to Apple’s program page checked 2026-10-18.

When a call helps

An idea feedback call can help narrow the first feature. A build-along is a 90 minute coaching session where you do the building on your screen. Details are on the calls page.
